December’s Second Sunday Social justice collection will be going to Fresno Barrios Unidos (FBU). Fresno Barrios Unidos is a grass root organization created in 1994 as a result for the need of gang prevention and intervention programs. FBU gives comprehensive reproductive education taught at Juvenile Hall and in after school programs. FBU also provides knowledge and opportunities to ensure that youth, families, and individuals reach their full potential in order to maintain nurturing and healthy environments by providing our community with parenting classes, after school programs, mentoring programs, and educational health fairs throughout Fresno County. Dave Weikel, a local clinical social worker, will speak on the importance of friendship and advocacy; where this communitysupport becomes a vital link for those with mental health challenges.
