The Alluvial Community Garden is located on the grounds of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno. It consists of twenty-four organic garden boxes that are leased to individuals, families, and groups. It is surrounded by an herb garden, blueberry bushes, a demonstration area of drought-tolerant shrubs, and a “Birds of the Valley” sign by local artist Kathleen Maddox, as well as a shed for tools and other equipment.
The mission of the Alluvial Community Gardens is to provide access to an organic garden space that facilitates growing food as well as offering educational opportunities, therapeutic recreation, and the building of community.
It is a place where all are welcomed and encouraged and a place where people can share with one another while learning sustainable gardening practices.
